Part-Time Substitute Teacher (Up to $144 Daily)

About The Position

Wonderschool is hiring Preschool and Daycare Substitute Teachers in Southport, North Carolina, and surrounding areas in Brunswick County. Wonderschool partners with local preschools and childcare centers to provide a flexible substitute teaching platform. Substitute teachers fill in for teachers who are away and provide children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience. The role includes activities such as educational games, arts and crafts, music, meals, and outdoor play, as well as working with a team under the guidance of the onsite program director and communicating with families about each child’s day and progress. Teachers complete training and onboarding with Wonderschool. Pay is $14–$18 per hour, up to $144 per day. Shifts typically last 4 to 8 hours between 6 AM and 6 PM, with flexibility to choose working locations, days, and hours.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Have experience in child care, teaching, or working with children ages 0–5.
Be patient, dependable, and excited to support young children as they learn and grow.
Be able to pass a state background check and complete a TB test and physical.
Have at least one of the following: a high school diploma or GED; a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; an EDU 119 Early Childhood Credential; an ECE AA or BA degree; or at least one year of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.

Responsibilities

Fill in for teachers on leave, including vacation, illness, or personal matters.
Provide children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience.
Engage children in activities such as educational games, arts and crafts, music, meals, and outdoor play.
Work with a team of teachers and follow the guidance of the onsite program director.
Communicate with families about their child’s day and progress.
Complete Wonderschool’s training and onboarding process.
