About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools in the South Austin area, including Kyle, Buda, and surrounding communities. Substitute teachers lead classrooms and help create safe, supportive learning environments, while choosing assignments and locations that fit their interests. Assignments may also involve supporting the campus through lunch and recess supervision, hall and bathroom monitoring, tutoring, or test proctoring.

The position offers a flexible schedule of up to five days per week. Start and end times vary by school; most assignments start between 7:00 and 8:00 AM and end between 3:45 and 4:45 PM. Applicants are being accepted for the 2026–27 school year, and interviews can begin immediately. Kokua offers daily pay rates based on education and assignment length, weekly paychecks, support from its team every day from 6 AM to 8 PM, and reimbursement of out-of-pocket costs after 10 teaching assignments.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working with students in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, coaching, or camps.
• At least 48 college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
• Strong belief that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
