About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Kyle, Buda, Bluff Springs, and the surrounding Austin area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who help students develop a love for learning. The position offers a flexible schedule of up to five days per week, with assignments selected from available teaching opportunities. Substitute teachers may also be asked to provide lunch or recess supervision, monitor hallways, tutor students, or proctor tests. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The company describes this role as a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; associated costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Submit a resume that includes relevant experience working with students.

Responsibilities

• Cover classroom assignments and lesson plans at K–12 schools.
• Manage a classroom of students.
• Provide additional support as needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Serve as a positive role model and contribute to students’ learning and development.

Benefits

• Earn up to $200 per day; pay is issued weekly.
• Daily pay rates are $129 for candidates with some college (48+ credits) or an associate degree, $150 for candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher, and $200 for long-term assignments at all qualification levels.
