About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools in College Station and the surrounding Houston area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover classroom assignments, support students’ learning, and serve as positive role models. Assignments may also involve lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.

Teachers can choose their schedule and work up to five days per week, with a choice of teaching assignments. Pay is $129 per day for daily positions and $144 per day for long-term positions, paid weekly via W-2. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path toward permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
