About The Position

This position is a student-focused role within a highly collaborative culture, reporting to the Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences (MSMHS) Program Director. The Student Success Coordinator has two main responsibilities: providing career support to MSMHS students and assisting in the design, delivery, and coordination of learning strategies, particularly for students facing academic challenges. The role also involves assisting with the program's admissions process and recruitment. The ideal candidate will be student-focused, organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong collaboration skills, valuing communication and transparency. This position requires collaboration with multiple campus departments, including Student Affairs and other Touro programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Career counseling, Education, or related field.
  • Experience and enthusiasm in working with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as the situation demands; managing diverse competing priorities in a professional and positive manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of Academic Support and/or Career Counseling practices.
  • Ability to create and maintain collaborative and productive work relationships.
  • Ability to implement successful practices in career services and professional development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with various computer office applications and programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with graduate and/or first professional degree students is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual career counseling via one-on-one meetings to students to help them navigate their transition into a graduate program of study, including application to medical school and to physician assistant programs.
  • Help students design individualized student study strategies and learning plans to help them academically succeed. Monitor and follow up on individual students’ progress on their academic improvement plans. This will require collaboration with Touro's academic support services offered through student services.
  • Collaborate with other MSMHS staff on the program recruitment and admissions process.
  • Collaborate closely with student affairs, Touro admissions, the osteopathic program’s pre-clinical education department, and other Touro programs.
  • Participate in various MSMHS program events, such as new student orientation.
  • Attending a few recruitment events throughout the year.
  • Committee work.
  • Connecting with MSMHS alumni to help with the MSMHS program.
  • Act as an advisor to MS students.
  • Organize mock interviews.
  • Organize exam proctoring and supervise work study students.
  • Design and conduct career and academic success presentations.
  • Supervise Research students.
