About The Position

This position is for a Student Part-Time Professor to teach PSY3121 - Psychology of Women and Gender during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Psychology. The course will cover theoretical and methodological issues concerning women, gender, and gender identity, including biological and socialization factors, gender stereotypes, societal roles, identity, mental health, violence, and current research. The course is offered in person and will be taught in English.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Advanced knowledge of the course content area (Psychology of Women and Gender)
  • Competence in a second language (Passive)
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.
  • Ability to maintain the original assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PSY3121 - Psychology of Women and Gender.
  • Cover theoretical and methodological issues concerning women, gender, and gender identity.
  • Discuss biological similarities and differences and socialization experiences.
  • Address gender stereotypes, familial, occupational, and other societal roles.
  • Explore identity and self-concept in relation to social norms.
  • Cover mental health and well-being.
  • Discuss violence against women and gender-based violence.
  • Present current research in psychology of women, gender, and gender identity.
  • Maintain the original assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).
  • Promptly inform the School of Psychology Secretariat if a class needs to be cancelled.
  • Arrange for a suitable replacement instructor if aware in advance of an upcoming absence.
