About The Position

This course examines the political strategies Indigenous Peoples have adopted in Canada and globally to ensure protection of their rights. The course focuses on the many ways Indigenous Peoples have resisted and continue to resist colonial/settler domination strategies, which have systematically undermined the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Prominence will be given to Indigenous voices of resistance, through engagement with Indigenous political activists, media, writings and so on.

Requirements

  • PhD completed or in the process of being completed with a specialization in conflict studies and human rights.
  • University teaching experience is an asset.
  • Competence in a second language (active).

  • University teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Indigenous Politics and Human Rights course (ECH2308 Section A00) during the 2026 Fall Semester.
  • Engage with Indigenous political activists, media, and writings to highlight Indigenous voices of resistance.
  • Fulfill all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
