About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach the course "Social Development of the Child" (PSY3135 Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. This course examines children's social relationships and interactions from infancy to puberty, exploring the influences of family, home, school, peers, and society. It also covers current research in the field. The course is offered in English and is an in-person delivery format. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The position is governed by the APTPUO collective agreements.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Knowledge about the social development of the child
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training (as may be modified by provincial law).

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course "Social Development of the Child" (PSY3135 Section A00).
  • Maintain the assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).
  • Inform the School of Psychology Secretariat if a class needs to be canceled.
  • Arrange for a suitable replacement instructor if aware in advance of an upcoming absence.
