About The Position

This course, SOC3121 Sociological Theory: Meaning and Subjectivity, explores the role of intentionality in social action. It covers sociological theories related to the construction of the subject and meaning, including comprehensive sociology and its derivations (culture, religion, politics in movements and institutions). The course also examines approaches focusing on social interaction, theoretical currents in the sociology of the individual, and their inseparable methodological perspectives. It will analyze the relationships between these theories, including the tensions, conflicts, and exclusions they generate.

Requirements

  • M.A. in sociology and completed sociology Ph.D. coursework or more advanced training in sociology.
  • Demonstrable track record of expertise in Sociological Theory: Meaning and Subjectivity, evidenced by previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
