About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Public and International Affairs, is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach International Trade (API6332, Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course will cover theoretical and empirical aspects of international trade, including gains from trade, causes and consequences of trade, alternatives to free trade, factor movements, foreign investment, and Canadian trade and foreign investment policies. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The language of instruction is English, with a requirement for competence in a second language.

Requirements

Demonstrated expertise and experience in the design, negotiation and implementation of international trade and development strategies.
Demonstrated expertise in the strategy of Canadian trade policy, including in relation to the United States, Asia, and the Caribbean.
Previous experience in university-level teaching.
Competence in a second language.

Responsibilities

Teach International Trade (API6332, Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester.
Cover theoretical and empirical aspects of international trade, including gains from trade; the causes and consequences of trade; the alternatives to free trade (tariffs, quotas and non-tariff barriers, customs unions); factor movements, growth, and the theory of direct foreign investment; Canadian trade and foreign investment policies.
Design, negotiate, and implement international trade and development strategies.
Demonstrate expertise in Canadian trade policy strategy, including relations with the United States, Asia, and the Caribbean.
Provide university-level teaching.
