About The Position

This posting is for a Student Part-Time Professor for the course POL2107 - Introduction to Political Thoughts, Section B00, during the 2027 Winter Semester. The course focuses on the origins and development of political thought, examining principal themes in ancient and medieval political thought with a brief discussion of modernity. Emphasis may be placed on Greek, Roman, and/or non-Western thought. The course is intended for PhD students and will be offered online in a scheduled, synchronous format with live instruction. The University of Ottawa offers training in online course delivery. Teaching methods may be modified due to public health measures or other reasons.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ph.D. coursework in the field of political thought.
  • Teaching experience in the field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the topic of this course (via letter of intent, which is not mandatory but will be considered).
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
  • If invited to continue the selection process, notify of any adaptive measures required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous training or experience with teaching at the University of Ottawa (recommended for candidates who have never taught at the university).
