About The Position

The Institut d’études féministes et de genre \ Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor to teach FEM 1100: Women, Gender, Feminism: An Introduction during the 2027 Winter Semester. This interdisciplinary course takes an approach to women and the intersection of social relations of gender, race, class, sexuality, and disability in Canadian and global contexts. It introduces basic conceptual debates in feminist and gender studies and feminist theoretical positions, aiming to develop critical analytical skills. The course will be delivered in person on a predetermined schedule.

Requirements

Ph.D. preferred.
Teaching experience with full responsibility for an undergraduate university course in Introduction to Women's Studies, Gender Studies or Feminist Studies preferred.
Intersectional feminist approach preferred.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
Competence in a second language: Passive.
Must successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities

Teach FEM 1100: Women, Gender, Feminism: An Introduction.
Deliver the course in person according to a predetermined schedule.
Develop and implement an interdisciplinary approach to women and the intersection of social relations of gender, race, class, sexuality and disability.
Introduce basic conceptual debates in feminist and gender studies and feminist theoretical positions.
Develop students' critical analytical skills.
