About The Position

This course, Foundations of Environmental Science (EVD5121A), is designed to provide students with a thematic understanding of the current state of environmental science. Major themes include: the set of environmental issues that are currently of major concern in Canada and abroad; the range of scientific approaches currently employed to understand and predict the effects of human activities on ecosystems; the nature of environmental science evidence; and how environmental sustainability is characterized from the perspective of environmental science. This posting is limited to PhD students.

Requirements

  • Must be a PhD student.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the topic of this course (a letter of intent is recommended but not mandatory).
  • Candidates who have never taught a course at the University of Ottawa are recommended to submit information describing their previous training or experience with teaching.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Competence in a second language (Passive).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Foundations of Environmental Science (EVD5121A) during the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Provide instruction in English.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
