About The Position

This position is for a Student Part-Time Professor for the HIS2100-D00 course, "The Historian's Craft," during the 2027 Winter Semester. The course is an introduction to writing research papers in history, covering topics such as the importance of time and space variables, hypothesis testing versus questioning sources, formulating historical questions, locating and assessing information sources (with an emphasis on secondary sources), evaluating material for authenticity, validity, and reliability, identifying author perspectives and approaches, an introduction to historiography, and the presentation and sourcing of results. The teaching method is in-person.

Requirements

  • PhD in History
  • Be up-to-date in historical methodology, based on work experience, academic training, or publications.
  • Competence in the second language (Passive).

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach HIS2100-D00, "The Historian's Craft."
  • Introduce students to the writing of research papers in history.
  • Cover topics including time and space variables, hypothesis testing, formulating historical questions, locating and assessing information sources, evaluating material for authenticity, validity, and reliability, identifying author perspectives and approaches, historiography, and presentation and sourcing of results.
  • Conduct in-person classes according to the specified schedule.
  • Ensure all mandatory legislated training is completed.
