About The Position

The Tourism and Sports Marketing Student Intern aids the day-to-day operations and marketing efforts of Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing. Four seasonal positions are available, paying $15 per hour for 20–40 hours per week, with various hours Monday through Sunday. The positions run from January 13, 2027, through April 28, 2027, at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale and the Welcome Center in Davenport. The intern must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• Be enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or have graduated from an accredited college or university in one of these fields within the last 24 months.
• Ability to research and prepare informational data, promotional brochures, reports, and other materials.
• Ability to assist with the physical setup and operation of sporting events.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic communications, presentation preparation, internet research, and social media.
• Ability to work nights and weekends at various facilities throughout Polk County.
• Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and operation of events recruited and hosted by Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing.
• Assist with developing and organizing administrative documents, reports, and general office projects as needed.
• Work with owners of events hosted in Polk County to support onsite operations and event setup.
• Assist with operations at sports facilities throughout Polk County.
• Help Visit Central Florida marketing staff gather information and content for marketing and social media campaigns.
• Work with departments including Sales and Recruitment, Event Logistics, Sponsorships, and Digital and Social Media on projects and event preparation.
