About The Position

The Store/Night Dept Leader directs and supervises department functions, duties, and activities while supporting day-to-day Grocery operations. The role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The leader supports the Customer 1st strategy and encourages associates to provide excellent service, while demonstrating the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position involves leading associates, managing department performance and scheduling, developing and implementing business and promotional plans, controlling expenses, and supporting budgeting and financial reviews. It also includes overseeing inventory, stocking, pricing, food safety, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety. The leader responds to customer questions, promotes products and specials, and supports customers including minors, people with special needs, and older adults.

Develop adequate schedules to manage customer volume throughout operating hours.
Train and develop associates and participate in the performance appraisal process.

Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to customer questions or make product suggestions.
Offer product samples and inform customers about grocery specials.
Develop and implement a department business plan and create and execute sales promotions with store management.
Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor and implement the department’s promotional plan.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Monitor and control department expenses; assist store management with budgets and profit-and-loss reviews, and take appropriate action based on financial reports.
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
Schedule price changes and update shelf tags and promotional signs.
Plan, organize, and supervise inventory processes; train associates on inventory, stocking, and Computer Assisted Ordering.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines, maintain proper case and cooler temperatures, and maintain temperature logs.
Reinforce safety programs, follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity; follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
