About The Position

Plans, directs, and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of various store departments. Acts as a mentor and coach for team members, implementing strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs and providing quick, efficient service. Maintains store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards. The role oversees department staffing and hiring, team development and training, customer service, sales, profit and loss, and shrink. The Stocking TL spends most of the time in the store communicating with customers and team members to help ensure exceptional service. The position also promotes a safe work environment and requires reliable, consistent attendance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–3 years of related retail experience.
One year of management experience.
Ability to communicate clear and precise direction to team members.
Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root-cause issues.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to make informed decisions.
Ability to teach suggestive selling.
Ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
Ability to mentor team members across the organization, including SDITs, hourly team members, and team leaders.
Successful completion of all required certifications.

Nice To Haves

Rotational assignments in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, and deli; customer service and product flow experience are helpful.

Responsibilities

Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members to support a positive company image.
Manage staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
Support succession planning by providing career paths, identifying team members’ development needs, and participating in promotion decisions.
Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
Manage department profit and loss, achieve sales goals, and maintain shrink.
Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain the area to Meijer standards.
Ensure team members are thoroughly trained in their jobs and complete required training.
Spend most of the time in the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered.
Promote a safe work environment.
Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
