About The Position

A Steward maintains cleanliness and proper storage of china, glassware, and silverware while ensuring high sanitation standards. The role also supports kitchen staff by cleaning equipment, utensils, work areas, and storage areas, and assists with proper food storage and rotation. A high school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field is preferred. The Steward must communicate information and ideas clearly, evaluate alternatives quickly and accurately, work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations, and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
• Operate dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean china, glassware, and silverware and maintain their sanitation.
• Return clean china, glassware, and silverware to their proper storage locations, taking care to minimize breakage.
• Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils according to proper cleanliness and sanitation procedures, and store them in the proper locations.
• Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and restaurant.
• Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
• Maintain cleanliness of the back dock and dumpster area.
• Assist with proper food storage and rotation.
• Perform other tasks or jobs as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
