About The Position

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of china, glassware, and silverware while ensuring high sanitation standards. The role assists kitchen staff by keeping the kitchen and storage areas clean, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas, and by supporting proper food storage and rotation.

The position is at Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa, a luxury resort with 285 guest rooms and 114,410 square feet of meeting space. The Steward is expected to maintain a friendly and warm demeanor and work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations. Compensation is $14.50 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
• Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a hotel or related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean china, glassware, and silverware and maintain sanitation.
• Return clean china, glassware, and silverware to their proper storage locations while minimizing breakage.
• Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using proper cleaning and sanitation procedures, then store them in the proper locations.
• Sweep and mop kitchen and restaurant floors.
• Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
• Maintain cleanliness of the back dock and dumpster area.
• Assist with proper food storage and rotation.
• Perform other tasks or jobs as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
• Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor.
