About The Position

The Kitchen Steward (dishwasher) performs tasks assigned by the Steward Assistant, Executive Steward, Chef De Cuisine, and Sous Chef. The role coordinates materials and equipment to maintain workstation cleanliness and sanitation, and communicates problems or concerns to a supervisor or kitchen management. The position helps maintain the cleanliness and safety standards established by Ameristar Casino St. Charles and the Health Department.

Requirements

• One year of kitchen cleaning experience; related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
• Flexible to work any day and any shift.
• Familiarity with handling cleaning chemicals and compounds.
• Familiarity with cleaning all types of kitchen equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete the Serve Safe training class.
• Possess, and be able to obtain and maintain, a valid driver's license and gaming license within the assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to comprehend product-labeling instructions for safe application of products.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sanitation levels and cleanliness of floors, walls, dishes, pots, and other kitchen items.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies needed to perform the job.
• Use “Wet Floor” signs and other markers as appropriate.
• Ensure kitchen workers have and use the proper equipment, including gloves, goggles, and chemicals.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly.
• Assist with training kitchen workers in safety practices.
• Train kitchen personnel on proper chemical use and safety applications.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety standards set by Ameristar Casino St. Charles and the Health Department.
• Communicate problems and concerns to a supervisor or kitchen management.
• Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image and deliver superior internal and external guest service in Boyd Style.
