About The Position

The Steward position is located at the University of Oklahoma. The role maintains kitchen work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, supporting kitchen operations and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Duties also include handling supplies and products, keeping storage areas organized, and assisting with banquet and front-of-house setup as requested.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors at appropriate intervals to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
• Operate large electric machines, including dishwashers, sanitizers, trash compactors, and glass crushers.
• Assist culinary staff as needed with safety and sanitation standards.
• Keep storage areas clean and organized, and rotate food using the FIFO method.
• Check delivery accuracy by matching products with delivery invoices.
• Segregate and remove trash and garbage, placing it in designated containers; steam clean or hose out garbage cans in assigned areas.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other food preparation machines and equipment.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas while observing safe lifting standards.
• Assist with banquet table and front-of-house setup as requested.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and delivering supplies and products.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
• Comply with all outlined sanitation and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
