About The Position

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety division is hiring a full-time Steward for South Dining Hall in the Campus Dining department. This hands-on role supports a fast-paced culinary team by maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient workspace and managing inventory for dining operations and events. The Steward handles food products, supplies, and equipment, and maintains the storeroom, coolers, freezers, and docks.

Requirements

• Manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Be positive, respectful, and committed to the schedule you create.
• Have excellent communication and listening skills.
• Be able to stand for extended periods, up to six hours at a time.
• Be able to move, lift, and handle equipment, supplies, and other objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Be able to position yourself to move items weighing up to 25 pounds from the floor to shelves and cabinets above and below counter height.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks, put away equipment, and store food and supplies.
• Pull products and equipment and pack them for shipment to events.
• Order, receive, and store food products, supplies, and equipment.
• Rotate stock according to dates received and maintain a safe, sanitary storage area.
• Check products and equipment that are received and issued.
• Maintain the storeroom, coolers, freezers, and docks.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.
