About The Position

The Steward assists the Stewarding Supervisor and restaurant outlets with cleaning and organizing food and beverage outlets. The role involves sorting, washing, and storing service ware; maintaining dishwashing equipment; polishing silverware; and cleaning cooking equipment so kitchen staff can work effectively. Physical strength and stamina are essential because of the position’s high activity level.

Requirements

Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain it to complement the guest experience.
Ability to push or pull service carts weighing up to 150 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to transport heavy objects through a crowded room, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, or push goods on a hand cart or truck weighing up to 200 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware for proper processing through the dish or pot machine.
Wash service ware and return it to designated storage areas.
Keep the dish machine clean and filled with water according to hotel standards.
Operate a burnishing machine and de-tarnish and polish silverware.
Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots, and pans promptly and completely.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
