About The Position

The Steel Welder Level II fabricates and welds steel. The role performs MIG and TIG welding in multiple positions, inspects welds for size and specifications, repairs damaged parts, positions and assembles workpieces, selects welding materials and equipment based on specifications, and maintains and repairs welding equipment. This is a first-shift, Monday-through-Friday position from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates who accept an offer must pass a background check and drug screen and meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.

Requirements

Ability to pass a weld test.
At least 1 year of experience reading a tape measure and identifying and measuring material.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Pass a background check and drug screen after accepting an offer.
Meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 years of MIG and TIG welding experience in a production environment.
At least 3 years of experience using weld fillet gauges to ensure proper weld size and interpret tolerances.
Forklift certification.

Responsibilities

Perform MIG and TIG welds on steel in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
Select a torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to welding chart specifications or the type and thickness of the material.
Perform necessary maintenance and repairs on welding equipment.
