About The Position

The Steel Welder Level I fabricates and welds steel. The role performs MIG and TIG welding in multiple positions, checks welds against specifications, repairs parts, assembles and positions workpieces, selects welding equipment and materials according to specifications, and maintains and repairs welding equipment. This is a first-shift position, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates who accept an offer must pass a background check and drug screen and meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.

Requirements

• Ability to pass a weld test.
• At least 1 year of experience reading a tape measure and identifying and measuring material.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Candidates accepting an offer must pass a background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of MIG and TIG welding experience in a production environment.
• At least 1 year of experience using weld fillet gauges to ensure proper weld size and interpret tolerances.
• Forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welds on steel in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
• Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
• Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
• Select the torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to welding chart specifications or the type and thickness of the material.
• Perform necessary maintenance and repairs on welding equipment.
