About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The district serves approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12 across 35 schools and programs. The STEAM High School is looking to hire Cheer Coaches for JV and Head positions. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, preparing students for higher levels of competition. High school teams (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) focus on skill refinement, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check

- Valid Concussion Management Certificate
- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach student athletes in cheerleading, focusing on skill development, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
