Startup Account Executive

Turnkey•New York, NY
•$77,000 - $125,000

About The Position

Turnkey is hiring a developer-focused, quota-carrying Startup Account Executive to build relationships with technical founders, help startups discover and build with Turnkey, and convert developer adoption into commercial relationships. The role focuses on engaging emerging startups and developer communities, supporting evaluation of Turnkey APIs and SDKs, and guiding teams from initial experimentation through production and paid adoption. The Account Executive will also help shape Turnkey’s developer-led startup sales motion as the company scales. Turnkey builds infrastructure for autonomous systems, providing programmable guardrails that enable autonomy while maintaining control. The company was founded by the team that scaled Coinbase Custody to more than $100 million in ARR and secured over $100 billion in crypto assets. Its mission is to help the world operate an economy on autopilot, safely. The position owns the full sales cycle and quota, from prospecting and discovery through technical evaluation, negotiation, close, and customer handoff. It combines outbound sales, technical product engagement, community participation, cross-functional collaboration, pipeline management, and feedback to GTM leadership.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a quota-carrying sales role, with evidence of creating and closing new business.
  • Comfort owning the full sales cycle, including prospecting and closing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to tailor clear messages to the audience.
  • Curiosity about crypto, payments, fintech, developer products, or technical infrastructure.
  • Ability to learn complex products and explain them without oversimplifying important details.
  • Good judgment in discovery, including asking direct questions, listening closely, and honestly qualifying opportunities.
  • Strong organization and follow-through across multiple opportunities and stakeholders.
  • Resilience, competitiveness, and a bias for action, including the ability to make progress while the playbook is still being built.
  • Collaborative approach and comfort working with founders, senior leaders, and technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling to startups, developers or founders, or other technical buyers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a startup prospect pipeline, emphasizing self-sourced outbound and targeted account research.
  • Run the full sales cycle from first outreach and discovery through evaluation, negotiation, and close.
  • Engage founders, product and engineering leaders, and other stakeholders to understand their roadmaps, use cases, buying processes, and constraints.
  • Participate in developer communities, hackathons, technical meetups, conferences, and startup events to build relationships and drive awareness, adoption, and pipeline.
  • Develop hands-on expertise with Turnkey APIs, SDKs, and infrastructure; run technical demos, answer developer questions, and explain integration into applications.
  • Coordinate with product, engineering, and GTM partners when prospects need additional technical or commercial support.
  • Help developers progress from exploration to building and deploying with Turnkey; identify friction in the developer journey and collaborate to improve technical resources, demos, and onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline records, next steps, and forecasts in Attio, and participate in regular revenue-team pipeline reviews.
  • Meet quota and track supporting activity and conversion measures, including pipeline creation, opportunity progress, and closed revenue.
  • Build a repeatable startup sales motion by testing messaging and approaches, sharing effective practices, and bringing structured market and customer feedback to GTM leadership.
  • Set up a clear post-close handoff to the appropriate team and remain engaged to support a strong customer start.
