Seasonal Starbucks Barista, Northridge Fashion Center
About The Position
The Barista sells and prepares Starbucks coffee beverages in accordance with Starbucks standards, providing caring hospitality and exceptional customer service through product knowledge. This is a seasonal role at the Northridge Fashion Center. The position requires knowledge of coffee, beverage, espresso, and pastry stations; adherence to food safety, cleanliness, merchandising, and presentation standards; and the ability to prepare products accurately while meeting service expectations. Schedules include weekend shifts, and hours depend on business needs and colleague availability. The role supports a welcoming environment that builds authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including day, evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; reach, crouch, kneel, and stoop; frequently use computers and other technology, handheld equipment, and cash registers; process register transactions; and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate current working knowledge of drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, and pastry stations.
- Follow company standards and maintain the work area and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards.
- Follow Starbucks Simple Service Steps and Magic Selling skills to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Educate, sample, and serve customers food and beverage products.
- Follow station-specific duties and responsibilities.
- Open and/or close the area using the appropriate checklist and verify completion with the Manager on Duty before leaving.
- Maintain PAR stock levels and product presentation standards.
- Prepare and present products according to Starbucks recipes while meeting speed-of-service standards.
- Follow Starbucks merchandising and signing standards.
- Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress in compliance with company, Starbucks, and Health Department standards.
- Perform other duties as needed.
