Seasonal Starbucks Barista, Coronado Center
About The Position
The Starbucks Barista sells and prepares Starbucks coffee beverages according to Starbucks standards, providing caring hospitality and exceptional customer service through product knowledge. The role includes preparing and presenting food and beverages, maintaining work areas and equipment to applicable health standards, and supporting a welcoming and respectful environment for colleagues, customers, and communities. This is a seasonal position at Macy’s Coronado Center. Schedules depend on business needs and colleague availability; weekend shifts are required, and hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; reach, crouch, kneel, and stoop as needed.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers, and ability to process register transactions.
- Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate current working knowledge of drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, and pastry stations.
- Maintain the work area and equipment according to company standards and Health Department standards.
- Follow Starbucks Simple Service Steps and Magic Selling skills to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Educate customers about products, offer samples, and serve food and beverages.
- Perform station-specific duties and responsibilities.
- Open and/or close the area using the appropriate checklist and verify completion with the Manager on Duty before leaving.
- Maintain PAR stock levels and product presentation standards.
- Prepare and present products using Starbucks recipes while meeting speed-of-service standards.
- Follow Starbucks merchandising and signing standards.
- Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress standards in accordance with company, Starbucks, and Health Department requirements.
- Perform other duties as needed.
