The Staffing Coordinator ensures appropriate daily staffing for nursing units by anticipating vacancies and arranging coverage with internal staff and external supplemental staffing agencies. The position enters accurate census, acuity, and staffing information into the scheduling system to generate daily reports, and performs clerical, reception, and general office duties. It creates a culture of sensitivity to nurses’ needs while filling patient-care positions and coordinates small programs with limited budget or impact. The coordinator creates and updates daily staffing sheets and working master schedules, coordinates with bed control to ensure assignments are staffed, maintains employee contact information and staff qualification lists, maintains attendance, on-call, and float records, processes leave requests, and enters data into the payroll system.
