About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator ensures appropriate daily staffing for nursing units at Adventist Health Bakersfield. The role anticipates vacancies and works to fill shifts using internal staff and external supplemental staffing agencies. It enters accurate census, acuity, and staffing information into the scheduling system to generate daily reports and performs clerical, reception, and general office duties. The coordinator promotes sensitivity to nurses’ needs while meeting patient-care staffing needs and coordinates small programs with limited budget and impact.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.

• Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate daily staffing of nursing units.
• Look ahead for vacant shifts and arrange coverage with internal staff and external supplemental staffing agencies.
• Enter accurate census, acuity, and staffing data into the scheduling system to generate daily reports.
• Perform clerical, reception, and general office duties.
• Create and update daily staffing sheets and update working master schedules each day.
• Coordinate with bed control to ensure required assignments are staffed.
• Maintain and update employee contact information for designated areas.
• Maintain staff qualifications lists, attendance records, on-call lists, and float lists.
• Process leave requests.
• Enter data into the payroll system.
• Coordinate small programs with limited budget and impact.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
