About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator provides staffing and scheduling support for assigned departments at Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and department leadership, this role helps create and revise schedules by matching department needs with available personnel, meeting schedule-posting deadlines under Hospital policy or the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and using organizational staffing strategies to schedule staff productively and cost-effectively. The coordinator evaluates and adjusts daily department staffing, including arranging replacements for paid time off, sick leave, leaves of absence, and other unexpected circumstances. The role obtains staffing needs from assigned departments at regular intervals throughout the shift and through active rounding in units, making real-time adjustments to flex, float, or fill staffing gaps. The coordinator participates in Hospital position control meetings with the C-Suite to review schedules and staffing reports, and forecasts staffing needs to help prevent emergencies. The role also supports the Hospital’s review and approval process for supplemental agency personnel. Responsibilities include promptly reviewing contracted labor candidates for qualifications and submitting them to the CNO and department leadership for placement decisions; maintaining agency candidate orders and compliance files in the Vendor Management System (VMS); reconciling VMS invoices for agency hours and charges in collaboration with Finance; and establishing a pattern of agency reduction.
