•$171,200 - $298,400

About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead programs for Slack’s Growth pillar, which owns the self-serve revenue funnel and runs experiments to drive annual contract value. The role partners with engineering, design, product management, Data Science, Business Operations, marketing, and senior leaders to bring structure to strategy, operations, execution, and scope while accelerating and aligning teams. The TPM is expected to have sufficient technical depth to represent Product and Engineering in cross-functional discussions, understand software architecture and product systems, and identify dependencies and risks. The role translates business goals into projects and decisions, influences product and roadmap strategy, and remains accountable for delivery and results. It also develops operational approaches, tools, and processes—including scalable AI-assisted mechanisms—to improve collaboration and execution.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience across Technical Program Management, engineering, and/or growth roles, including leading end-to-end technical programs in dynamic product or engineering organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical technical experience.
  • Applied experience with Agile and Lean product development practices.
  • Sufficient technical grounding to communicate credibly with engineers, scope technical projects, understand software architecture, and identify architectural risks.
  • Ability to use quantitative metrics and signals to prioritize work, measure impact, assess risk, and document decisions for organizational reuse.
  • Ability to establish structure, define workflows, and maintain momentum when strategy and scope are fluid; know when to handle work manually and when to automate it, and break ambiguity into milestones with explicit accuracy bars and deferrals.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional programs involving multidisciplinary teams with different workflows and competing priorities.
  • Direct experience supporting enterprise deals, including executive briefings and customer-facing communication.
  • Experience identifying operational bottlenecks and delivering high-value process and automation improvements.
  • Prompt engineering capability; ability to assess AI output for quality and data handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building tools that replace manual work, such as scripts, SQL dashboards, AI agents and skills (for example, Claude or Slackbot), or contributions to internal repositories, and ability to demonstrate them.
  • Experience mentoring other Technical Program Managers and sharing practices adopted by others.

Responsibilities

  • Partner strategically with senior product, design, and engineering leaders, building credibility and productive relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Run the experiment portfolio, including velocity reporting, collision checks, launch tracking, and quality; partner with Data Science and Business Operations to improve the experiment process.
  • Drive feature programs, including global expansion and Slackbot-infused initiatives to improve onboarding and invites.
  • Own quarterly and monthly planning processes, including executive reviews and roadmap alignment across marketing, product, design, and engineering.
  • Become a domain expert, explain engineering systems and process flows, recognize dependencies, anticipate and mitigate risks, and recommend implementations with clear evaluation criteria.
  • Understand customer needs, engineering work, and technical architecture; form and influence product and roadmap viewpoints grounded in business drivers and metrics.
  • Translate high-level goals into a logical set of projects.
  • Develop, roll out, and improve operational strategies, tools, and processes, including weekly business reviews, impact metric views with Data Science, and executive alignment.
  • Develop scalable operational mechanisms, including AI-assisted tracking and automated status and risk reporting.
  • Build and maintain timelines, project plans, and communication artifacts so teams have accurate, current information.
  • Proactively manage schedules, risks, communications, and mitigation strategies.
  • Track end-to-end projects against committed dates and release schedules.
  • Mentor other Technical Program Managers and share tools, skills, and practices they can adopt.
  • Build tools and automation to replace manual work, evaluate AI output for quality and data handling, and demonstrate the tools created.
