Staff Technical Program Manager, Growth

Salesforce•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead programs for Slack’s Growth pillar, which owns the self-serve revenue funnel and runs experiments to drive annual contract value. The role brings structure to strategy, operations, execution, and scope across a fast-moving product area, while aligning and accelerating teams. The TPM partners with engineering, design, product management, Data Science, Business Operations, marketing, and senior leaders, and represents Product and Engineering as a technical subject-matter expert in cross-functional discussions. The role requires understanding software architecture and the product end to end, turning cross-functional complexity into decisions, and staying accountable for delivery and results. The TPM shapes strategy and planning, manages the experiment portfolio, and drives product initiatives including global expansion and Slackbot-infused improvements to onboarding and invites. The role also develops operational strategies, tools, and processes—including AI-assisted mechanisms—to improve collaboration, execution, reporting, and risk management. The position calls for technical depth, data-driven judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to build trusting relationships and influence stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years across Technical Program Management, engineering, and/or growth roles, including leading end-to-end technical programs within dynamic product or engineering organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical technical experience.
  • Applied experience with Agile and Lean product development practices.
  • Technical grounding to converse credibly with engineers, scope technical projects, and identify architectural risks.
  • Proven ability to use quantitative metrics and signals to prioritize work, measure impact, assess risk, and document decisions.
  • Proven ability to establish structure, define workflows, and drive momentum when strategy and scope are fluid.
  • Experience leading complex programs that bring together multidisciplinary teams with differing workflows and competing priorities.
  • Direct experience supporting enterprise deals, including executive briefings and customer-facing communication.
  • Ability to build tools that replace manual work, such as scripts, SQL dashboards, AI agents and skills, or contributions to internal repositories, and demonstrate them.
  • Ability to evaluate AI output for quality and data handling.
  • Ability to decide when to perform work manually and when to automate, and to break ambiguous tasks into milestones with explicit accuracy bars and deferrals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner strategically with senior product, design, and engineering leaders, and build productive, trusting relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Run the experiment portfolio, including velocity reporting, collision checks, launch tracking, and quality.
  • Partner with Data Science and Business Operations to improve the experiment process.
  • Drive feature programs, including global expansion and Slackbot-infused initiatives to improve onboarding and invites.
  • Own quarterly and monthly planning exercises and processes, including executive reviews and roadmap alignment across marketing, product, design, and engineering.
  • Become a domain expert, explain engineering systems and process flows, recognize dependencies, and anticipate and mitigate risks.
  • Understand the product end to end and identify dependencies and gaps; recommend implementations with clear evaluation criteria.
  • Understand customer needs, engineering work, and technical architecture beyond the orchestration layer.
  • Develop an informed point of view on the product and roadmap, grounded in business drivers and metrics, and influence strategy early.
  • Translate high-level goals into a logical set of projects.
  • Develop, roll out, and improve operational strategies, tools, and processes, such as weekly business reviews, impact-metric views with Data Science, and executive alignment.
  • Challenge conventional practices and build scalable agentic mechanisms, such as AI-assisted tracking, automated status updates, and risk reporting.
  • Build and maintain timelines, project plans, and communication artifacts so teams have accurate, current information.
  • Proactively manage program fundamentals, including schedules, risks, communications, and mitigation strategies.
  • Track end-to-end projects against committed dates and release schedules.
  • Mentor other Technical Program Managers and share tools, skills, and practices that others adopt.
  • Build tools that replace manual work, evaluate AI output for quality and data handling, and demonstrate those tools.
  • Use quantitative metrics and signals to prioritize work, measure impact, assess risk, and document decisions for organizational reuse.
  • Establish structure, define workflows, and drive momentum when strategy and scope are fluid; break ambiguous work into milestones with explicit accuracy bars and deferrals.
  • Lead complex programs across multidisciplinary teams with differing workflows and competing priorities.
  • Support enterprise deals, including executive briefings and customer-facing communication.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and deliver process and automation improvements.
