About The Position
Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. Collaborating with engineers, UX designers, and product managers, the team delivers scalable, maintainable solutions supporting initiatives like disaster relief and community programs. Emphasizing technical expertise and innovation, members apply agile methodologies and leverage skills in Spring Boot, APIs, Java, and cloud databases to build reliable, efficient software. The team fosters a collaborative environment focused on impactful technology that aligns with business goals and enhances community engagement.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Strong proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, and GraphQL.
- Experience with cloud-native architecture principles such as microservices, containers, and automation.
- Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply software design patterns effectively.
- Skilled in API design, software prototyping, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Familiarity with DevOps engineering practices and platform tooling development.
- Capacity to mentor peers and influence technical decisions for sustainable solutions.
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

- Lead system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence.
