About The Position

The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, API design, and AI/ML integration to build innovative, secure, and maintainable solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business goals and engineering excellence. The engineer will apply data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and deliver high-quality software solutions. The Walmart Fulfillment Services and Marketplace Engineering team focuses on building scalable, resilient solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency. This team emphasizes architectural excellence, adopting modern technologies, AI capabilities, and engineering standards to enhance system reliability and productivity. Members collaborate across functions to solve complex problems in a high-scale environment, leading through influence and technical expertise. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable, resilient systems.
  • Strong software development skills across the full lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Experience in API design, software prototyping, and applying design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions to ensure quality and sustainability.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision making, debugging, and problem solving to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated innovation mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Lead system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using modern programming languages and platforms.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and products by embracing innovation and adapting to change.
