About The Position

Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable application experiences, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. Requirements

Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
Demonstrated skills in debugging, problem solving, and remedial action to maintain high-quality software.
Effective mentorship and collaboration skills to support team growth and cross-functional communication.
Commitment to engineering excellence and operational excellence through data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and alignment with architectural best practices.
Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend APIs.
Build and optimize mobile-first associate experiences using React Native.
Own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from API to UI components to observability.
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, agile systems.
Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features using multiple programming languages.
Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements, track success metrics.
