About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. The role requires competency in delivering care primarily to adult patients. The Staff RN-Inpatient job description incorporates essential functions adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010). The position is onsite at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is scheduled for two 12-hour shifts per week, 0700–1930. Holidays rotate, and weekend work is every third weekend.

Requirements

Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of patient populations relevant to the area of employment.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, normally acquired through education at an accredited School of Nursing sufficient to be eligible for Registered Nurse licensure.
Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or a multistate nursing license from a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certification, or an AHA-approved equivalent, within 90 days of hire.
Newly hired or transferred RNs without a BSN or higher nursing degree and with less than one year of RN experience must provide proof of acceptance into an accredited BSN-or-higher nursing degree program within 15 months of hire or transfer. The program must be completed within five years of enrollment, subject to the stated exceptions and alternative nursing-degree pathways.
