Staff Product Manager, Trust & Safety

About The Position

Tinder is seeking a Staff Product Manager for its Anti-Abuse Team to lead a consequential area of its safety charter: reducing the prevalence and impact of policy-violating actors and content. The role owns product direction across detection, prevention, remediation, and enforcement, sustaining that direction across multiple related initiatives. It is hybrid, with in-office collaboration three times per week in either the New York or Los Angeles office. The person in this role will own product strategy and a multi-quarter roadmap for a core abuse area, make principled tradeoffs, and establish consistent guardrails. They will work with Anti-Abuse Analysts to understand evolving bad-actor tactics and translate them into durable defenses, while aligning Engineering, Design, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations around scalable systems. They will define measurement approaches for prevalence, exposure, repeat offending, false positives, and appeal outcomes, including ways to assess impact when clean experiments are not possible. The role also involves applying AI and machine learning where they provide meaningful leverage in detection, classification, and review; communicating strategy, tradeoffs, and impact to senior leadership; and driving alignment on high-stakes enforcement decisions. The Product Manager is expected to stay hands-on with shipped experiences and address root causes. Tinder describes its culture through values including taking the lead, moving fast, working together, candid communication, prioritizing safety, and having fun. The company states that it welcomes diverse backgrounds and is an equal opportunity workplace.

Requirements

  • Track record of sustained, material outcomes across multiple related initiatives in Trust & Safety, fraud, abuse prevention, content moderation, or risk.
  • Systems thinking across the full abuse lifecycle and judgment to choose between improved detection, different interventions, or changes to the product experience.
  • Strong product intuition for remediation and enforcement experiences that are effective, fair, and understandable to affected users; recognizes under-enforcement as a fairness failure as well as over-enforcement.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous, adversarial environments and deliver resilient, scalable solutions.
  • Analytical rigor and comfort reasoning from imperfect data, while distinguishing what evidence does and does not support.
  • Minimum of 8 years of product management or other relevant experience building and scaling products or systems.
  • Ability to set direction and drive large, cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Fluency with ML-based detection systems; able to discuss precision, recall, model thresholds, and data pipelines with engineers.
  • Working knowledge of the online safety regulatory environment and ability to translate regulatory requirements into product decisions.
  • Hands-on data skills, including writing SQL and interrogating prevalence and precision numbers rather than relying solely on dashboards.
  • Fluency applying AI tools in product work, with judgment about where they add leverage and where they do not.
  • Conviction to advocate for user safety and platform integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with age assurance, identity verification, or biometric signals in a consumer product.
  • Experience with adversarial ML, including evasion, model drift, or detection of AI-generated content.
  • Experience in consumer social or dating platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for a core abuse area, making explicit choices about what to pursue.
  • Make principled tradeoffs, including precision versus recall and automated action versus human review, and establish consistent guardrails.
  • Partner with Anti-Abuse Analysts to identify evolving bad-actor tactics and translate them into durable product defenses.
  • Drive execution and alignment across Engineering, Design, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations to create scalable, enforceable systems from community guidelines.
  • Define measurement foundations for prevalence, exposure, repeat offending, false positives, and appeal outcomes, including impact evaluation where clean experiments are not possible.
  • Apply AI and ML to detection, classification, and review when they offer meaningful leverage, and assess whether proposed investments are worthwhile.
  • Communicate anti-abuse strategy, tradeoffs, and impact to senior leadership and drive executive alignment on high-stakes enforcement decisions.
  • Maintain the quality of enforcement experiences by staying hands-on with the product and fixing root causes rather than individual bugs.
