Staff Product Manager, Trust & Safety

About The Position

Tinder is seeking a Staff Product Manager to join its Anti-Abuse Team and own a consequential area of the company’s safety charter: reducing the prevalence and impact of policy-violating actors and content. The role sets direction across detection, prevention, remediation, and enforcement, and sustains that direction across multiple related initiatives. It is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration three times per week in the New York or Los Angeles offices. The Staff Product Manager owns product strategy and a multi-quarter roadmap for a core abuse area, makes principled tradeoffs, and establishes consistent guardrails. The role partners with Anti-Abuse Analysts to identify evolving bad-actor tactics, and works across Engineering, Design, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations to turn community guidelines into scalable, enforceable systems. It defines measurement foundations, applies AI and ML where they offer meaningful leverage, and communicates strategy, tradeoffs, and impact to senior leadership. The position also remains hands-on with shipped enforcement experiences, addressing root causes and maintaining quality.

Requirements

  • Track record of sustained, material outcomes across multiple related initiatives in Trust & Safety, fraud, abuse prevention, content moderation, or risk.
  • Systems thinking across the full abuse lifecycle and judgment to determine whether a problem calls for improved detection, a different intervention, or a change to the experience.
  • Strong product intuition for effective, fair, and intelligible remediation and enforcement experiences; recognizes under-enforcement as a fairness failure as well as over-enforcement.
  • Ability to operate in highly ambiguous, adversarial environments and deliver resilient, scalable solutions.
  • Analytical rigor, including comfort reasoning from imperfect data and clearly distinguishing what evidence does and does not support.
  • Minimum of 8 years of product management or other relevant experience building and scaling products or systems.
  • Ability to set direction and drive large, cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Fluency with ML-based detection systems, including discussing precision, recall, model thresholds, and data pipelines with engineers.
  • Working knowledge of the online safety regulatory environment and ability to translate regulatory requirements into product decisions.
  • Hands-on data skills, including writing SQL and investigating prevalence and precision metrics.
  • Fluency applying AI tools in product work, with judgment about where they add leverage and where they do not.
  • Conviction to advocate for user safety and platform integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with age assurance, identity verification, or biometric signals in a consumer product.
  • Experience with adversarial ML, including evasion, model drift, or detection of AI-generated content.
  • Experience in consumer social or dating platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own product strategy and the multi-quarter roadmap for a core abuse area, including explicit decisions about what to pursue and what not to pursue.
  • Make principled tradeoffs, including precision versus recall and automated action versus human review, and establish consistent guardrails.
  • Partner with Anti-Abuse Analysts to identify evolving bad-actor tactics and translate them into durable product defenses.
  • Drive execution and alignment across Engineering, Design, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations.
  • Translate community guidelines into scalable, enforceable systems.
  • Define measurement for prevalence, exposure, repeat offending, false positives, and appeal outcomes, including how to evaluate impact when clean experiments are not possible.
  • Apply AI and ML to detection, classification, and review where they provide meaningful leverage.
  • Communicate anti-abuse strategy, tradeoffs, and impact to senior leadership and drive executive-level alignment on high-stakes enforcement decisions.
  • Maintain the quality of shipped enforcement experiences by staying hands-on and addressing root causes rather than individual bugs.
