About The Position

As Staff Product Manager for Developer Experience, you will set the strategy for how AI transforms the way data practitioners write, debug, and ship dbt code. You will own the vision, roadmap, and outcomes for the end-to-end developer workflow across the Studio IDE, Developer Agent (an AI coding assistant inside dbt Wizard), Cloud CLI, and dbt VS Code Extension. These products serve tens of thousands of data practitioners, from experienced analytics engineers to newer practitioners who use AI to work faster with confidence. This Staff-level role has broad scope and direct influence on company direction. You will be a key partner to the Fusion team, which drives dbt’s next-generation compilation and intelligence. You will shape how Fusion capabilities become differentiated developer experiences, ensure developer needs inform the Fusion roadmap, and architect the feedback loop between Developer Experience and Fusion. The role calls for a strategic, hands-on leader who can define the future of AI-native developer tooling and is deeply passionate about building AI agents well. You will set multi-year strategy and roadmap priorities, align investments with company strategy, product-led growth goals, and Fusion direction, and make investment decisions grounded in market insight, customer evidence, and technical judgment. You will lead AI agent product development, including agentic workflows, multi-step task execution, context management, natural-language interaction, and guided experiences. You will establish principles for trust, transparency, control, and evaluation, while tracking the AI landscape and developing a differentiated product perspective. You will coordinate execution across engineering, design, and go-to-market teams; partner with Fusion on platform and product boundaries, API contracts, and roadmaps; influence senior leaders and stakeholders; and mentor other product managers. You will stay close to dbt community members and enterprise customers, especially power users and technical practitioners, and use research and competitive analysis to guide planning. Success includes a clear developer experience strategy aligned across engineering, design, and leadership; a differentiated and well-regarded Developer Agent; improved developer satisfaction and engagement, including activation, session depth, and feature adoption; a coordinated Fusion partnership; and a Cloud CLI that developers actively choose. The position is on a distributed, remote team; the posting does not specify whether this role is remote, hybrid, or onsite.
