Staff Product Manager

Postman•San Francisco, CA
•$240,000 - $275,000•Onsite

About The Position

Postman is hiring a Staff Product Manager to define and lead the product strategy for its web experience across postman.com and related properties. The role owns the web as both a customer-facing product and a business system, shaping customer journeys, expanding discovery of Postman's product portfolio, and building the technical and measurement foundations needed to learn and improve. The successful candidate will operate without a pre-existing playbook, make consequential prioritization decisions, develop a coherent roadmap, and lead cross-functional work across Product, Design, Engineering, Data, Product Marketing, SEO, Brand, and Growth. Success is measured by outcomes rather than pages launched or requests completed. The position sets the long-term strategy for Postman's web properties and the audiences and needs they serve; expands product discovery and top-of-funnel reach; improves journeys from first visit through evaluation and entry into the product; and establishes trusted analytics, attribution, and privacy-aware measurement. It also owns technical search and agent-engine optimization strategy, web performance and quality standards, and approaches to internationalization and localization. The role requires product management leadership, deep web product expertise, technical search fluency, quantitative judgment, and the ability to align senior stakeholders through influence. The reasonably estimated base salary is $240,000 to $275,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation depends on skills, qualifications, and experience. Postman offers a pay-on-performance philosophy and a flexible schedule, alongside benefits including full medical coverage, flexible PTO, wellness reimbursement, a monthly lunch stipend, wellness programs, team-building events, and donation matching. The company values in-person collaboration: roles based in San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Austin, New York City, Tokyo, and London are in-office five days a week. Bangalore-based roles are currently in-office three days a week and are expected to transition to five days a week by year-end.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including significant ownership of customer-facing web products or digital experiences at scale.
  • Experience setting strategy, building roadmaps, and delivering measurable results in complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated personal ownership of web experiences that materially changed customer behavior or business performance, with the ability to explain the problem, choices, tradeoffs, solution, measurement, and impact.
  • Deep understanding of how modern websites are designed, built, rendered, served, measured, and evolved.
  • Ability to partner credibly on content management systems, front-end architecture, server-side and client-side rendering, content delivery networks, release workflows, and technical dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience using information architecture and technical SEO and AEO to improve discovery at scale; understanding of URL design, site hierarchy, internal linking, structured data, crawl budgets, rendering, redirects, canonicalization, and indexation.
  • Understanding of page performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and reliability as product concerns, and ability to make informed tradeoffs with Engineering and Design.
  • Fluency in browser and cookie behavior, consent management, first-party data, anonymous and authenticated identity, tag management, attribution limitations, and privacy-aware analytics; ability to diagnose measurement gaps.
  • Fluency in funnel analysis, experiment design, guardrail metrics, statistical interpretation, and post-launch learning, including judgment about when to experiment and how experiments support broader strategy.
  • Strong product judgment to balance customer and business value, technical complexity, brand craft, and speed across strategy and execution.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders without formal authority, align stakeholders on priorities and decisions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Customer empathy for developers and technical teams and curiosity about how they evaluate and adopt tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with developer products, APIs, business-to-business software, or product-led growth is strongly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Define the long-term product vision and roadmap for postman.com and related web properties, including how web surfaces work together and which audiences and needs they serve.
  • Expand product discovery and top-of-funnel reach by identifying underserved audiences and high-potential entry points, then creating intuitive, scalable web experiences.
  • Map and improve end-to-end web journeys from first visit through evaluation and entry into the product; reduce friction, clarify value, and create a coherent transition to the authenticated product.
  • Partner with Data and Engineering to establish instrumentation, event taxonomy, source and campaign attribution, identity stitching, funnel reporting, and decision-quality dashboards.
  • Lead privacy-aware measurement decisions involving cookies, consent management, browser restrictions, data retention, and regional privacy requirements.
  • Own product strategy for technical search and agent-engine optimization, including site architecture, crawlability, indexation, rendering, structured data, internal linking, redirects, canonicalization, and large-scale content or domain migrations.
  • Set standards for page speed, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, reliability, responsiveness, and cross-browser behavior, working with Design and Engineering to balance craft and performance.
  • Align senior partners across Product, Marketing, Design, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and SEO; communicate strategy, decisions, results, and learning to executive audiences.
