Staff Product Designer

Gitwit•Tulsa, OK
•$140,000 - $170,000•Onsite

About The Position

Gitwit is hiring a Staff Product Designer to lead product experiences for new AI companies and establish the studio’s design quality standard. This is a hands-on, senior design-lead role focused on taking ambiguous ideas from early concept through prototype, first launch, user learning, and iteration. The designer will lead one or two ventures across the year, working closely with discovery, product strategy, engineering, brand, and venture leadership. The role involves making early product decisions, getting close to users, prototyping quickly, testing assumptions, and translating research and usage signals into product improvements. The designer owns how each product works and feels, including AI workflows, interaction details, edge cases, uncertainty, human review, approval, fallback paths, and trust. They are expected to deliver polished experiences, design systems, flows, states, and implementation-ready specifications, then make a clean handoff to a founding team when a venture is ready to carry the product forward. Gitwit is an AI-first venture studio aiming to launch 15 or more ventures over four years, at a pace of about five companies per year. The position is based in Tulsa or Bentonville and is not remote. The studio expects regular in-person collaboration, while allowing flexibility for occasional work from home.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on product design experience with deep craft skills.
  • Experience taking products from zero to one, from ambiguous early concepts through launch for real businesses.
  • A portfolio of work that can be shared.
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills, including typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and detailed interaction design.
  • Product judgment under uncertainty, including the ability to develop alternatives, make tradeoffs, choose a direction, and identify what would disprove it.
  • Ability to design AI-native interactions and workflows that address uncertainty, trust, human judgment, and non-deterministic outcomes.
  • Ability to synthesize interviews, observations, and usage signals into product decisions.
  • Clear communication and collaboration with engineers, strategists, researchers, and venture leaders.
  • Comfort working quickly with incomplete information, high trust, and direct collaboration.
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping product design.
  • Willingness to work in person regularly in Tulsa or Bentonville; this is not a remote role.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain the visual and interaction quality standard for the studio’s products.
  • Lead zero-to-one product design for new AI products, from initial concept through first launch and iteration.
  • Resolve product states, edge cases, and interaction details so products feel complete and polished.
  • Design AI workflows that account for variable outputs, incorrect or uncertain answers, human review, approvals, fallback paths, and clear next steps.
  • Generate and evaluate multiple design directions, make decisions, and clearly explain the reasoning.
  • Prototype quickly to help teams learn before overbuilding.
  • Translate user observations, research, and usage signals into product hypotheses, experiments, and design decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with product strategists, researchers, engineers, designers, and venture leaders to develop ideas into testable products.
  • Establish disciplined design practices and reusable foundations across the studio.
  • Capture and share lessons from AI products about review, correction, approval, uncertainty, failure states, and user trust.
  • Conduct lightweight user tests or experiments with discovery and product strategy, and turn early signals into prioritized design iterations.
  • Create early design systems, flows, states, and engineering specifications.
  • Support a venture’s product handoff to its founding team when the product and team are ready.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of $140,000–$170,000 per year.
  • Meaningful equity in every venture the studio builds.
  • Eight weeks off per year: five weeks of vacation and three weeks of paid holidays.
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance, with 99% of employee premiums paid.
  • 401(k) with a 4% match.
  • Life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Cell phone reimbursement.
  • Monthly parking stipend.
  • Weekly team lunches.
  • Dog-friendly office.
  • High-trust, high-autonomy culture.
  • Opportunity to work on multiple high-impact ventures each year.
  • Private office and collaborative workspaces.
