About the position
The Staff Designer, Design Systems at Articulate will be responsible for shaping the visual identity and user experience of the company's products. They will play a crucial role in building and managing design systems, ensuring consistency and efficiency in design processes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Figma, a deep understanding of design principles, and a passion for design thinking. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor other designers, and drive innovation in design. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as a strategic mindset.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance design systems inside of Figma, including guidelines, components, patterns, and iconography
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape product requirements and incorporate them into design systems
- Maintain consistency in design systems through efficient versioning and documentation processes
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies in design systems to ensure a unified experience
- Advocate for design excellence and best practices within the company
- Mentor and collaborate with other designers to elevate their skills and adherence to design system guidelines
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in design tools to incorporate relevant improvements into work
- Identify opportunities for innovation and create alignment among teams
- Collaborate with the holistic design team to maintain a cohesive visual language and align design system components with broader design efforts
- Provide guidance to evolve the overall digital system of the core consumer experience
- Shape processes and approach to good design while fostering a culture of collaboration, feedback, and openness
- Possess a deep proficiency in Figma with a strong understanding of its advanced features and collaboration capabilities
- Demonstrate exceptional visual and UI design skills, with the ability to create cohesive design systems and high-quality user interfaces
- Have a thorough knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout
- Understand user-centered design principles and user experience best practices
- Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and provide constructive feedback

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proven track record of at least 10-12+ years as a Product Designer or Interaction Designer, with a focus on design systems
- Deep proficiency in Figma with a strong understanding of its advanced features and collaboration capabilities
- Exceptional visual and UI design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating your ability to create cohesive design systems and high-quality user interfaces
- Thorough knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and user experience best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and provide constructive feedback
- Strategically minded individual who seeks new opportunities to make an impact
- Passionate about end-to-end customer experience holistic of brand and product

- Previous experience leading or mentoring other designers (preferred)
- Knowledge of front-end development (preferred)
