About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical and patient care to customers by accurately processing and dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients about medications and health care needs, administering immunizations, and providing other Walmart-developed programs in compliance with applicable Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations. The role maintains confidential information and required records, including controlled-medication documentation.

The pharmacist supports quality, safety, and accuracy by setting clear expectations, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed, counseling patients when required, documenting care, identifying areas for improvement, and addressing root causes to reduce risk. The role also supports health-care compliance by communicating and monitoring compliance initiatives, ensuring proper billing and HIPAA practices, following standard operating procedures, and using audits to identify and address issues.

The position provides guidance to associates, models customer-service standards and company policies, and helps resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues. It builds partnerships with stakeholders, supports business solutions and continuous improvement, and demonstrates Walmart’s values through integrity, teamwork, respect, customer focus, and a commitment to learning and excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
• Pharmacy license by the job entry date.
• Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA, pharmacy school curriculum, or state pharmacy association-sponsored training.

Responsibilities

• Process and accurately dispense prescription orders.
• Counsel customers regarding health care and prescription medication needs, including new therapies and other circumstances required by patients, practice standards, or state regulations.
• Administer immunizations and other programs developed by Walmart in compliance with applicable Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations.
• Maintain confidential information, controlled-medication documentation, and assigned records in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Promote patient-care safety and accuracy by communicating expectations, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed, documenting counseling, and addressing quality and safety improvement needs.
• Promote transparent reporting of actual or perceived errors and implement interventions to improve team knowledge, patient safety, and risk reduction.
• Communicate, train, and guide associates on health-care compliance initiatives and monitor their execution.
• Ensure appropriate execution of billing procedures, HIPAA requirements, and standard operating procedures; use audits to identify and address compliance issues.
• Provide direction and guidance to associates on customer-service approaches and help resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues within company guidelines.
• Support business solutions by building stakeholder relationships, identifying business needs, carrying out processes, monitoring results, and adapting to changing demands.
• Ensure compliance with company and legal policies, procedures, and regulations, including safety, loss prevention, and quality assurance requirements.
• Model company policies, ethics, and integrity and support the development, mentoring, and success of associates.
