About The Position

The Staff Development Coordinator is a Registered Nurse responsible for developing and implementing job skills training, regulatory in-service education, and employee health monitoring for nursing department employees. The role assesses nursing assistants’ skills, resident interactions, and developmental needs, and provides immediate individual instruction when needed. New staff must receive training in deficient areas before performing those tasks with residents.

Requirements

Registered Nurse with current state licensure.
At least three years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting; long-term care experience preferred.
Current, active CPR certification.
Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and of laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement job skills training for nursing department employees.
Provide in-service education as required by regulations.
Monitor employee health for nursing department employees.
Regularly assess CNA skill performance, positive regard for residents, and direct care staff developmental needs.
Provide one-on-one instruction immediately when necessary.
Train new staff in identified deficient areas before allowing nursing assistants to perform the tasks with residents.
