Altana•Washington, DC
•$165,000 - $195,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Altana’s AI Deployment team brings its platform into production within customers’ businesses, guiding engagements from signed contract to realized value. The Staff AI Deployment Strategist leads customer discovery, identifies where Altana’s platform and agentic AI can improve outcomes, and designs solutions for AI Deployment Engineers to build and run. The role serves as the customer’s strategic counterpart on applying AI to their business and partners closely with sales, customer success, engineering, machine learning, and product teams to ensure commitments are delivered. The strategist designs end-to-end agentic AI workflows, including agent responsibilities, supported decisions, data and systems of record, and human oversight. They create prompts, system instructions, evaluation criteria, prototypes, solution designs, requirements, workflow maps, and acceptance criteria. They remain involved through build, validation, and go-live, define and measure engagement success, support adoption, and identify opportunities to expand into additional workflows. The role also contributes to scoping engagements and creating reusable solution patterns, discovery guides, and templates. The role can be based at Altana’s Brooklyn, NY or Washington, D.C. hub locations, with hybrid work flexibility. The U.S. annual base salary range is $165,000–$195,000. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers, and the company offers either a discretionary bonus or a variable compensation plan depending on the role. Benefits include flexible time off, paid parental leave, medical, vision and dental coverage, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) program, commuter benefits, wellness resources, pet insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and Dependent Care FSA access.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to lead discovery workshops, present to executives, and explain designs to engineers.
  • Product instincts and structured thinking, including the ability to identify the problem behind a request, find a minimal solution, and make progress with partial information.
  • Bias toward repeatable solutions and ability to identify patterns across customer requests.
  • Strong working understanding of agentic AI systems, including LLM-powered agents, tool and function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop design, as well as their practical strengths and limitations.
  • Hands-on prompt design and evaluation skills, including writing prompts and evaluation criteria, diagnosing shortcomings in agent outputs, and describing fixes.

  • Draft prompts, system instructions, and evaluation criteria, and prototype solution concepts on Altana’s platform to validate approaches with customers.
  • Write solution designs, requirements, workflow maps, and acceptance criteria; hand off designs to AI Deployment Engineers and remain engaged through build, validation, and go-live.
  • Define measurable engagement success, including adoption, decision quality, time saved, and risk reduced; drive adoption through training and enablement and develop business cases for expansion.
