Deployment Strategist

Runlayer•New York, NY

About The Position

Runlayer is hiring a Deployment Strategist to own customer adoption and growth through the deployment and successful release of AI infrastructure. Customers begin with a proof of value; the Deployment Strategist guides them from their first production use case toward enterprise-wide deployment. The role owns a book of enterprise accounts and is measured on net dollar retention, customer satisfaction, adoption, and outcomes. It involves working regularly with customers’ security, IT, infrastructure, and AI teams, aligning business and technical stakeholders around a deployment plan, and partnering with Account Executives on growth and renewals and with Forward Deployed Engineers on technical rollouts. As one of Runlayer’s founding Deployment Strategists, this person will help define how the company scales customers from proof of value to production and will take initial accounts through renewal. The role spans account ownership from proof of concept through enterprise-wide deployment and renewal, executive-level business reviews and enablement, product guidance across MCPs, skills, and agents, account-health management, issue triage, and feedback to Product and Sales to improve the deployment process.

Requirements

  • Passion for AI and enthusiasm for enterprise AI; builds and uses agents in daily work.
  • Intellectual curiosity, ability to learn new tools quickly, and ability to treat setbacks as information.
  • At least 5 years in a customer-facing technical role such as Deployment Strategist, Technical Account Manager, Customer Success Engineer, Solutions Architect, professional services, or technology consulting.
  • Consulting or operating experience, understanding how companies work from executive level down, ability to structure ambiguous problems, and ability to connect products to business goals.
  • Proven ownership of multiple enterprise accounts with shared responsibility for renewals and expansion.
  • Ability to explain SSO and SCIM, MCP servers and AI clients, and access policies to engineers, and to read logs and API responses to triage issues.
  • Experience running business reviews and enablement sessions with security, IT, and AI leaders up to the CISO and CTO, and ability to move between root-cause detail and executive-level communication.
  • Clear writing skills for account plans, handoff notes, and tickets that engineers can act on without follow-up questions.

Nice To Haves

  • An active GitHub profile, software built independently, or AI hobby projects.
  • Experience at an AI or data platform company.
  • Post-sale experience at a security, identity, or developer infrastructure company.
  • Experience supporting a self-hosted product running on AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
  • Experience building customer health scoring or dashboards in SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Own the path for enterprise accounts from initial deployment and proof of value to broad, enterprise-wide adoption, while Forward Deployed Engineers run the technical rollout.
  • Establish a working cadence with customer security, IT, infrastructure, and AI teams; connect business leaders with technical owners and keep adoption aligned with customer AI goals.
  • Plan and run QBRs, readouts, and enablement sessions with Account Executives, from working teams through CISOs, CTOs, and AI Transformation leaders, translating deployment progress into a business narrative.
  • Develop deep product knowledge, answer how-to questions, guide customers through features, and turn AI goals into a concrete plan across MCPs, skills, and agents.
  • Consistently review account health, proactively address risk, triage technical issues, provide support teams with actionable context, and keep customers informed.
  • Share responsibility with Account Executives for renewals and upsell; own renewal readiness, write renewal plans 90 days in advance, identify expansion opportunities, and involve the Account Executive and Forward Deployed Engineer in pursuing them.
  • Share field learnings with Product and Sales and improve friction points in the deployment process.
