About The Position

Fundamental is an AI company developing NEXUS, a Large Tabular Model designed for structured enterprise data and decision-making. The AI Deployment Strategist owns the outcome of NEXUS deployments, working with customers to identify high-value prediction opportunities, turn them into buildable use cases, define how value will be measured, and ensure models are adopted. The strategist partners with a Forward Deployed Engineer, who owns the build, while the strategist owns the rationale, scope, and next steps. This is a customer-facing role rather than an analyst or sales position. The work takes place largely with customers, often in their offices and within their data and organizations. The role involves discovery with business and data leaders, reviewing model backtests, and preparing briefs to secure funding for additional use cases. Travel is expected for 50% or more of the time.

Requirements

  • 2 to 6 years in a role where outcomes with a customer or client were a measure of performance, such as consulting, technical sales, customer-facing data science, product, founding, or early-startup operating roles.
  • Working technical familiarity with a Python or SQL notebook; ability to explain prediction problems and read a backtest. Technical capability will be tested.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems, write concise one-page documents, and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Evidence of quickly learning a domain or technology, demonstrated through something built or shipped.
  • Willingness to travel, work long customer days, and operate in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Humble, team-first approach and willingness to take on unglamorous work that advances the account.

Nice To Haves

  • Depth in an industry Fundamental serves, such as energy, financial services, insurance, shipping, retail, or private equity.
  • Prior exposure to applied machine learning, forecasting, or analytics products.
  • A second language used in business.

Responsibilities

  • Run discovery with business and data leaders to map decision points to prediction problems, qualify data availability, and prioritize use cases by value and feasibility.
  • Write a use-case brief for each deployment, covering the business question, prediction target, data sources, baseline, success KPI, and customer-side owner.
  • Define the expected value before development and confirm it afterward by translating model lift into dollars, hours, or risk in terms acceptable to the sponsor's CFO.
  • Drive adoption by integrating the model into customer workflows, training users, tracking usage, and resolving adoption blockers.
  • Maintain a live roadmap of use cases for each account and hand qualified expansion opportunities to the Account Executive with a written business case.
  • Work with the Forward Deployed Engineer to unblock data access, stakeholders, and priorities.
  • Share customer patterns with Product, Research, and leadership, and turn successful approaches into reusable team playbooks.
  • Travel to customer sites 50% or more of the time.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus equity in a Series A company at a $1.4 billion valuation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company equipment.
  • Wellbeing, learning, and home office stipends.
  • Structured eight-week ramp covering NEXUS, prediction framing, and value modeling, followed by ownership of accounts.
  • Mission-driven culture that values diversity of thought, humility, and bias toward action.
