About The Position
Hyatt Regency Deerfield is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the hotel’s daily accounting operations. The role helps maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and provide timely reporting while working closely with hotel leadership and department managers. This is a full-time, on-site position at Hyatt Regency Deerfield in Deerfield, Illinois. Scheduling flexibility may be required during month-end close, audits, and other business needs. Requirements
- At least 1–3 years of accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort learning accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and handle confidential information.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Nice To Haves
- Hotel or hospitality experience is preferred.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience is considered.
- Experience with hotel property management or accounting systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts.
- Review daily hotel revenue reports and investigate discrepancies.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, billing, collections, and payment reconciliation.
- Reconcile cash deposits and assist with cash-handling controls.
- Review guest ledger, city ledger, and advance deposit balances.
- Assist with financial statements, account schedules, and management reports.
- Support payroll reconciliation and labor reporting as needed.
- Maintain organized accounting records and assist with audits.
- Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and company policies.
- Partner with department leaders to resolve accounting questions promptly.
